Space Dragons! (check out the recap)
Grace and I have planned a day hike and you’re invited. We’ve picked out a beautiful route called Holy Jim Falls Loop. It starts at the base of the mountains in Orange County, then it ascends 2250 feet to the top of the ridge that divides Orange County and Riverside County. There are some breathtaking views along the ridge or both the Ocean to the West and the Desert to the East. Along the ascent and descent we will pass though several different microclimates and diverse environmental changes. It is a challenging hike, approximately 14.5 miles, though 10 miles is along a fairly flat service road along the ridgeline. Plan on about 5.5 to 6 hours for the hike. Wear sunscreen, pack a lunch and snacks and plenty of water, we will stop for several breaks along the route and of course we will stop for photos and shenanigans! Please let me know right away if you are interested in coming along. The road to the starting point is pretty rough and we will need truck/SUVs to get us there. I have a pickup and can take five, but if we have a larger group we will have to make arrangements.
