After practice on Saturday, Dec 15, a group of Space Dragon paddlers went to North Hollywood to help Wheels for Humanity clean, repair, and build wheelchairs. This non-profit organization refurbishes donated wheelchairs and hand fits them to children and adults with disabilities in developing nations.
Space Dragons were more than happy to trade their paddles in for hammers and wrenches to help support this cause! As volunteers for Wheels for Humanity dwindled, we came in with 16 volunteers - ready to get our hands greasy and dirty.
While we were able to let our inner child come out and start to hammer away and take things apart and then diligently put it back together again, we were also helping those in other nations who relied on family members, gain the freedom of mobility.

Stay tuned for future events with Wheels for Humanity. We were promised that our next event will be very challenging ;-) Also, if you hear of any other volunteering events, be sure to let Janet, your Space Dragons Social and Volunteer Coordinator, know!
