Space Dragons on Bikes!

Big THANK YOU to Jason for finding this unique opportunity (see below) & for organizing our very first Space Dragons cycling crew! Heck - he's even created an official Space Dragons Cycling Team Blog! Click here to heck it out!

See below, and contact Jason (Jason.hafer@pbtelecom.net or (949) 280-7253) direct if you are interested! This is a great cross-training activity.

The tour is taking place October 11 & 12th, the week after the SF tournament & the week before the Pendleton 10k Mud Run that some of ya are participating in.

Bay to Bay Bike Tour 2008

Benefiting the Pacific South Coast Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society

Space Dragons!

I thought this would be a great event for me and some my fellow Space Dragons to participate in. This is a two day 100 mile bike tour from Irvine to San Diego. There will be over 2500 cyclists and we are hoping to raise $2.6 million for research and programs for people with Multiple Sclerosis in Orange, San Diego and Imperial Counties.

There will be an overnight stay at the half way point, in Carlsbad, where we will have time to freshen up at our hotel then it’s off to the tours Saturday night party which includes dinner, live entertainment and dancing in an outdoor festival-like setting at Westfield Plaza Camino Real.

A 100 mile ride sounds very intimidating at first glance, however, we can do it. I will work with everyone to develop a training schedule to get you ready for the ride. As we get closer to the bike tour I will start asking you to time yourself so that I can set a riding pace for the entire team. We will all be there to support and encourage each other along the route. Not to mention that the tour has support crews that can handle everything from bike repairs to medical emergencies.

Now besides the physical challenge of the 100 mile bike tour we also have a fund raising challenge. We are each responsible for a minimum of $400 in donations. I will do everything I can to help each member to meet this goal. Some of us may have had more experience with fund raising and I would greatly welcome any ideas and encouragement for the team.

The tour registration fee is $60 per rider and an additional $20 per rider for bus transport back up from San Diego. The hotel room will be about $75 each with at least one roommate.

This is a great event for us to get into even better shape and develop more endurance while contributing to a good cause.

I would love to put together a Team Space Dragons to take on this challenge. I would like to hear back from everyone that would like to participate. Please email me at Jason.hafer@pbtelecom.net or call me at (949) 280-7253.

Or if you're ready to join (or donate) now - do it!
