Vancouver Blackout
Sorry for the Digest blackout, both Captains were on a well-deserved vaca with VERY spotty internet access … REALLY! ;)
But let’s just think about what just happened: 2 Mixed boats in the top 3 divisions, Div A Championship round finals for Red, Women and Open, 2 Guts and Glory Races … just breathe …
1. 2013 Alcan Dragon Boat FestivSal (VANCOUVER) –
- GREAT JOB SPACE DRAGONS!!!
We cannot express to how proud the Captains and Coaches are of how hard you competed, how each boat improved each heat, how well we ranked in the middle of a Canadian National Qualifier event!
No, we didn’t get a pretty anniversary medal, but we “earned” major respect. I talked to some paddlers that earned medals in Div C, D … etc and while they liked their shiny baubly, they were very enthusiastically congratulatory for our achievements in a way I just can’t explain.
Was it perfect? Not by a long shot which just means we have a lot of room for growth and can only get better, stronger, faster!
So let’s take this momentum and work on timing and technique on the water, power and endurance on land and ride it right into Big LB and onto Oakland Club Crew Qualifiers!
2. NORMAL PRACTICE - Sat/Sun 9am, Wed 5:30p-Sunset
- This Sunday Practice is ON until further notice!
- Practice Poll Reminder: Be mindful of the practice poll. We need your poll responses for Sat/Sun practice by Wed 7p to properly notify SCDBC, later responses, while helpful to coaches and captains, do not help us satisfy our obligations to the association, beach monitors and the greater DB community.

Please be ON TIME, we only have 1hr!
- Usually a smaller group, so an accurate practice poll is extremely important. Please keep this poll updated! Don't be "that guy" who signs up and then doesn't show up!
3. BLB/Oakland OC-2 Time Trials – Sun July ???
- Keep an eye out for info on this!
- Due to location logistics issues, test date was pushed back until we finalize test logistics.
