The hike was originally scheduled for Cucamonga Peak, but in the days leading up to our go date, 6 inches of fresh snow covered the summit and most of the trail. That sent Charlie and I scrambling to find an alternative destination at the last minute. We decided on Idlehour trail camp, above Eaton Canyon Natural Area near Pasadena. Although it remained cloudy during the entire hike, it never rained on us. In fact, the recent rain made everything green and fresh! It was a beautiful and mystical hike. No one who signed up for the original Cucamonga Peak hike backed out, even with the potential threat of thunderstorms. Space Dragons hikers are a hardy bunch!
