Fast and Furious
Can you believe it? We are over half way through the 2013 Season. This tournament season has been moving along nice and smooth but it’s about to get C R A Z Y! In pretty short succession we have 3 major races to prepare for (Big LB, Oakland, TI) and possibly a fun day at Lake Gregory!
So breathe deep and dig in! Practice, special boat, land workouts, weekday workouts, hell weeks …
Let’s finish STRONG!
1. BLB/Oakland OC-2 Time Trial Makeups – Sun July 14
- You may have responded to the FB post for the Primary, but make sure you email coaches if you need to test on the make-up date
- Due to location logistics issues, time trials are located at Mother’s Beach after practice
2. BAKE SALE
- Great job Space, the crowds were smaller this year, but we sold just about everything!
- Big thanks to the dedicated sales people, equip suppliers and those that brought baked goods!
- Each fundraiser helps us to fend off inflation and keep team dues and event fees as low as possible.
3. DUES and FEES
- Speaking of Dues and Fees, time for a mid-season checkup!
- As always, cash or checks payable to Space Dragons, give to Denise, Marina, Roger or Robert

4. Big LB – Sat/Sun July 27-28
- I KNOW many of you Space men have NOT signed up yet, Do it!
- Red, Blue, White Mixed boats, Genders, Masters, 500m and 200m races
- We are hosting 2 boats from our sexy Sister-team Ripple Effect, and we accepted the honor of hosting another new small SF team, Oyster Point Dragons, keeping to our host capacity of 3 boats.
- Keep a lookout for Potluck and equip signups!
The competition is strong:
Local: Guppies, LARD and U23 are always keeping the pressure on
North: Dragon Max, Oakland Renegades, Ripple, Dragon Warriors … More!

5. 2013 PDBA CLUB CREW QUALIFIERS (Oakland) – Aug 10-11
- Check it out and sign-up NOW if you are interested
- If you would be interested in paddling in Oakland for genders-only, please email coaches. We are only allowed to register one mixed boat, so we need to know if there are enough people willing to paddle genders-only to fill Open/Women's rosters.
- Winners of these races get the opportunity to represent the US in Italy 2014!

7. NORMAL PRACTICE - Sat/Sun 9am, Wed 5:30p-Sunset
- Practice Poll Reminder: Be mindful of the practice poll. We need your poll responses for Sat/Sun practice by Wed 7p to properly notify SCDBC, later responses, while helpful to coaches and captains, do not help us satisfy our obligations to the association, beach monitors and the greater DB community.
